تحقیق حاضر با هدف شناسایی چالش‌های توسعه ی کارآفرینی زنان روستایی در شهرستان ایلام انجام شده است. جامعه آماری تحقیق شامل 51 نفر از زنان کارآفرین روستایی شهرستان ایلام بودند که به شیوه سرشماری مورد مطالعه قرار گرفتند. ابزار گردآوری داده‌ها، پرسشنامه‌ای محقق‌ساخته بود که روایی محتوایی آن توسط نظر اساتید و متخصصان ترویج و توسعه روستایی صاحب‌نظر مورد تایید قرار گرفت. پایایی ابزار تحقیق نیز به کمک ضریب آلفای کرونباخ تعیین گردید (78/0=α). تجزیه و تحلیل داده‌ها با استفاده از نرم افزار SPSS در دو بخش آمار توصیفی و تحلیل عاملی انجام شد. نتایج حاصل از تحلیل عاملی با رویکرد اکتشافی منجر به شناسایی 4 عامل گردید که در قالب چالش‌های آموزشی-ترویجی، چالش‌های اقتصادی و قانونی، چالش‌های فردی و روحی و چالش‌های فرهنگی– اجتماعی 08/59 درصد از واریانس کل را تبیین نمودند. چالش‌های آموزشی- ترویجی به عنوان عامل اول با مقدار ویژه 631/2 بیشترین سهم (62/21 درصد) و چالش‌های فرهنگی- اجتماعی با مقدار ویژه 306/1 کمترین سهم (88/10 درصد) را در تبیین واریانس کل داشتند.
